Tenants

A tenant is your organizational workspace in RestAPI.com. It's a container for APIs, team members, and support tickets.

Creating a Tenant

Your first tenant is created automatically when you sign in. To create additional tenants:

  1. Click Create Tenant from the tenants page
  2. Enter a tenant name
  3. Click Create

You become the owner of any tenant you create.

Joining a Tenant

To join an existing tenant, you need an invitation:

  1. Ask a tenant administrator to invite you
  2. You'll receive an invitation code
  3. Click Join Tenant and enter the code
  4. You're added to the tenant with the assigned access level

Access Levels

LevelPermissions
AdministratorFull control: manage users, APIs, settings, billing
MemberCreate and manage APIs, but cannot manage tenant settings
GuestView-only access to tenant resources

Managing Users

Administrators can manage tenant users:

Inviting Users

  1. Go to Tenant Users
  2. Click Invite User
  3. Enter email and select access level
  4. Send invitation

The invited user receives a code to join the tenant.

Changing Access

  1. Go to Tenant Users
  2. Find the user
  3. Click to edit their access level
  4. Save changes

Removing Users

  1. Go to Tenant Users
  2. Find the user
  3. Click Remove
  4. Confirm removal

Tenant Overview

The tenant overview page shows:

  • Tenant name and account number
  • Owner information
  • Creation date and region
  • Number of APIs
  • Number of users
  • Pending invitations
  • Open support tickets
  • Payment method status

Editing a Tenant

Administrators can edit tenant details:

  1. Click Edit on the tenant overview
  2. Update the tenant name or other settings
  3. Save changes

Leaving a Tenant

To leave a tenant you're a member of:

  1. Go to the tenant overview
  2. Click Leave Tenant
  3. Confirm your departure

If you're the only administrator, you cannot leave without first assigning another administrator or deleting the tenant.

Deleting a Tenant

Only tenant administrators can delete a tenant:

  1. Go to the tenant overview
  2. Click Delete Tenant
  3. Confirm deletion

Deleting a tenant permanently removes all APIs, data, and configurations within it. This action cannot be undone.

Multiple Tenants

You can be a member of multiple tenants simultaneously:

  • Personal tenant for your own projects
  • Work tenant for your organization
  • Client tenants for consulting work

Switch between tenants from the tenants list in the portal.
